Rockabilly
Happy Days, Pink Ladies and Dita von Teese inspiration!
Rockabilly has its roots in the early 50s, originating in the southern states of the USA as a fusion of rock and roll and country (also known as 'hillbilly') music. Think Elvis, Carl Perkins, Bill Hailey and the Comets and get your dancing shoes and circle dresses ready to rock around the clock! Rockabilly underwent a mini revival in the 70s with bands like Showaddywaddy popularising the music and Happy Days (remember the Fonz?), American Graffiti and the Pink Ladies from Grease hitting stage and screen. Interest in the genre remains firmly established today with Dita von Teese being the undisputed queen of retro rockabilly style.
