SOLD: 80s Bernshaw black strapless evening dress and coat
Stunning 80s black strapless evening dress and matching coat reminiscent of Princess Diana.
Stunning 80s black strapless evening dress and matching coat which has a striking resemblance to the Emanuel dress worn by Princess Diana on her first official outing with the Prince of Wales in 1981. (Ours is of course rather more affordable than the $276000 Diana's dress fetched at auction!)
The dress has a crossover bodice with ruffled edging and a big statement décor bow at the side waist. It has a full length skirt with a deep flounce around the hemline and is unlined with a side zip fastening. The matching evening coat adds a touch of drama with its ruffled collar, voluminous styling and massive batwing sleeves with elasticated cuffs.

Customers are asked to bear in mind that vintage garment sizes bear little or no resemblance to contemporary sizes. Furthermore, current high street size labels are inconsistent, with M&S and Wallis being noted for their generous proportions while others come up on the small side.
Please always refer to the measurements provided in the item description rather than the garment label size, and note that any ‘best fit’ suggestion we make will be based on modern day sizing. By way of example, our own suggested standard size 12 dress has an underarm to underarm measurement of approximately 19" with a waist size of 30".
In order to best gauge the suitability of an item, you may find it useful to compare our stated measurements with those of one of your own garments which is a comfortable fit. Our garment measurements are taken with the item laid flat, and all sizes in our descriptions are approximate.
The following charts give approximate comparative UK/US/European sizes for women’s clothing and shoes.
